Paresh Rawal’s lawyer finally issues an official statement

The entertainment world is buzzing with the news of Paresh Rawal's departure from the highly anticipated sequel, Hera Pheri 3. Now, Anand & Naik, the legal team representing veteran actor Paresh Rawal, has issued an official statement addressing the controversy surrounding his departure from "Hera Pheri 3."

The update comes after Rawal's earlier assurance that a legal clarification would be shared on Sunday morning. He wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “My lawyer, Ameet Naik, has sent an appropriate response regarding my rightful termination and exit. Once they read my response all issues will be laid to rest

Paresh Rawal’s team told IANS, Admittedly, they did not deliver the story, screenplay, and also a draft of a long-form agreement, which was fundamental to the engagement of our client. In the absence of these and also since Mr. Nadiadwala, the producer of the original films, issued notice to our client and raised issues on the making of the film, our client chose to exit and returned the money with interest by terminating the Term sheet.

Following the producers' lawsuit against the senior star for Rs 25 crore, citing "unprofessional attitude," Akshay Kumar’s production house stated that Rawal’s sudden exit has caused severe financial losses to the company. Paresh refunded his signing fee of Rs 11 lakhs, including an additional 15 percent interest.

Now, in their statement, Rawal’s team responded to the claims of the producers (including Akshay Kumar) incurring losses. The lawyers claimed that they accepted the money but later sent an “untenable notice” to the OMG actor.

They shared, “First they accepted the monies but later, unfortunately, sent an untenable notice to our client when knowingly nothing was and is ready including no story and cloud over the title, so there can never be any loss. I hope they would accept this reality and move on from our client (sic).

Akshay's legal team had previously mentioned that his exit had caused significant problems and financial losses for the cast, crew, and related activities. In response, the actor's lawyers stated that the story, screenplay, and a draft of a long-form agreement, which were crucial for their client's engagement, were not delivered. They added that since Mr. Nadiadwala, the producer of the original films, had raised issues, their client chose to withdraw, returning the money with interest and terminating the term sheet. The lawyers explained that the initial acceptance of funds was followed by an untenable notice, despite the project's unreadiness, and therefore, no loss could have occurred.

Hera Pheri 3, the anticipated sequel to the 2000 hit Hera Pheri, with its second installment in 2006, was initially announced in 2023. Earlier this year, Priyadarshan was confirmed to direct the film.
