TV celebs talk about world AIDS day and celebrity participation!

Today, on world AIDS day ...

Today is world AIDS day and billions of people are taking a pledge to involve in safe sex only. There are a number of awareness campaigns running in full force across the globe. We asked a few TV celebs about their views on these campaigns and celebrity participation in these awareness campaigns. Here is what they have to say!

"I feel yes it does make an impact on people when celebrities do awareness campaigns because people listen to celebrities as they are connected to celebrities."

Vishal Singh

"I definitely feel it will create great impact on people. People pay more attention when celebrities do such activities. When I was not in this field then also it was more important for me what celebrities were doing and I used to follow it too."

Ravi Dubey:
"Definitely. I think when celebrities do awareness campaigns it makes better impact on public. Yes, it is dreadful disease however things have changed dramatically for all the diseases and this being a part of it. I remember an article where a doctor quoted that he would rather have AIDS in these times than diabetes. This is controllable disease now. With lot of awareness we can always contribute to the cause."

Shashank Vyas:

"If celebrities take interest in AIDS campaigns it will have wider impact and people will look upto them. Some find their role models in those celebrities too. Like many brands hire celebrities to raise the product sales. Same way, if celebrities talk about AIDS people will pay more attention."

Gunjan Utreja

"Celebrities have their share of fan following and it definitely helps in bringing awareness to all sorts of issues. In my opinion, all those who are public figure should take opportunities to come out and support more such cause."

Tina Datta:

"I do feel celebrities create more impact. That's how most major brands hire celebrities and they earn in crores. It also depends on the cause. If the issue is greater and bigger, hiring big names work more. But if the cause needs to work on ground level then the actors who have more visibility create more impact. For example, TV actors may get fewer print ads but they will attract more people on TV, specially if the campaign is aired around their own shows."

Shivin Narang

"Yes, celebrity participation makes a lot of difference. I believe generally people don't know AIDS, its causes or symptoms. If a celebrity participates, people make an effort to know what it is try to search for it and read it
which creates awareness."

Saurabh pandey:

"I feel any person who is influential be it a politician, actor or anyone creates more impact than unknown faces. I am sure people do hear them with a lot of interest and has a significant effect on their minds. On this World AIDS day I pray for all those souls who are going through the trouble of AIDS and may God give them lots of happiness, strength to do all good they can and fulfill all their wishes. I will ask people to rise and help to deal with this cause by donating, by spreading awareness or anything that will be effective."

Adaa Khan

"I guess celebrity involvement for these kind of campaigns is a great idea. In India, people are crazy about actor and cricketers. They also fight for their favourite stars. If such celebrities can use their popularity for good cause, it would be wonderful."

Mohit Dagga

"Celebrities spreading awareness about good things will not only make it more relatable but also it creates good and responsible image for these celebrities. They will come across as responsible citizens and of course if people can follow their style, they will also follow these celebrities' causes."

Ajay Chaudhary

"It does make a difference. Celebrities are considered as ideals. If any celebrity say something be it good or bad, people are bound to react. So if such celebrities work for betterment of society people will at least give it a thought. Making people think is very important. If celebrities come together and with government's efforts we can achieve the favorable target. AIDS is a very different kind of disease and is spreading in India rapidly. Celebrities are always talked about so if they speak good things about society, it will make a difference. Be it only 2% but that too is better than no difference at all."

Ssharad Malhotra:

"Celebrity participation is very important in this awareness campaign as there are millions who look up to their favorites and get inspired, motivated, encouraged and even influenced by them. I feel that every celebrity should whole heartedly support this cause and this campaign and spread the word that THINK POSITIVE..but not HIV. Play hard but play safe... Sex is good but not at the cost of your life."

Gaurav S Bajaj

"It does make a difference. Celebrities are considered as ideals. If people are die hard fans of them then they will follow whatever their celebrity will say. People follow their ideals. For example, if my favorite actor is eating a particular chocolate, I would start having that chocolate, start wearing what they wear, that's how they become a style icon. That is the reason many brands are endorsed  by big celebrities, to make people believe that the products are approved by their favorite stars."

Divyanka Tripathi

"Absolutely, I feel like for world AIDS day it is very important that celebrities do participate in such awareness campaigns because common people follow suit of artists and celebrities. I feel if the celebrities set good examples even common people would pay attention to such a cause and would come out to help AIDS patients and accept them freely which is much required by the society today."

Rati Pandey

"From my point of view people suffering from AIDs should not be discriminated as different human beings out of any fear. There are lot of people who stay away from victims just out of fear. They are more scared of  the victims than the disease with such behaviour we are not only making the aid victims to suffer more but are not allowing them to live more by making them concious and that too just out of fear. So this should be always kept in mind that the aids victims should be treated very lightly, normally and cheerfully. I don't know about the cure medically but I can bet that we can at least make them survive more by treating them happily and normally without any discrimination, spreading love and smile makes lots of difference."

Arjun Bijlani:

"Celebrity participation makes a lot of difference. Generally people don't know about AIDS, like how it causes or about its symptoms. Celeb can make an effort to know about it and speak with masses which will sure create awareness."
