This is the real reason why Fawad Khan opted out of Kaalakaandi

Saif Ali Khan's upcoming film 'Kaalakaandi' created a stir when the director of the film Akshat Verma revealed that Fawad Khan was the first choice for this film. While he later clarified that Fawad was approached by the makers back in 2013 but his personal choice was always Saif.

Akshat stated that while writing the script the only actor that he could think of was Saif Ali Khan. When we asked Akshat to clear the air on why Fawad opted out of the film, his revelation is surely an unexpected one.

Verma revealed, "Fawad had read the script and loved it but he was leaving for Pakistan the next day. His major concern was his fans in Pakistan. He was worried about how his fans in Pakistan would react to it. He had said that this is certain kind of a character and I'm not sure if I could play it and get away with it. Later, he didn't follow up and then I didn't follow up and that's how we lost connection".

Verma concluded praising Fawad while stating, "Fawad is a skilful actor". The debutant director also revealed that no one could have done this role better than Saif Ali Khan.

Kaalakaandi chronicles the story of six characters from different worlds of Mumbai in a span of 12 hours and how the lives of complete strangers intersect.

Produced by Cinestaan Film Company and Ashi Dua Sara of Flying Unicorn, the film stars Saif along with Deepak Dobriyal, Vijay Raaz, Kunaal Roy Kapoor, Sobhita Dhulipala, Akshay Oberoi, Isha Talwar, Shenaz Treasury, Shivam Patil, Amyra Dastur and Neil Bhoopalam.

Kaalakaandi is scheduled to release on 12^th January 2018.
