Mission Raniganj marks its release today, and while it is led by Akshay Kumar, it is the huge ensemble cast of the film that has everyone's notice and expectations multiplied. Stalwart veterans like Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Jameel Khan, Kumud Mishra and others play pivotal roles in the film.
While these actors have worked with Kumar and others on multiple projects so far, two actors from the aforementioned names are actually working with the director of Mission Raniganj for the second time and several times with Kumar - Pavan Malhotra and Kumud Mishra.
In an exclusive conversation with us, Malhotra opened up on working with Kumar for the third time and for the second time with Desai.
I have never seen him still on set or even go to the washroom - Pavan Malhotra on director, Tinu Suresh Desai-
He said, "This is my third film with Akshay and my second with the director. Luckily, I have been a part of all amazing films with Akshay - Rustom, OMG 2 and now Raniganj. This film is as a true story as it can get. Even while shooting, the authenticity was constantly exquisite. Like Jameel Khan plays a miner and has difficult scenes to shoot; even the coal dust being spilt on them was real. As I have done Rustom with Tinu (Desai), I know he is a taskmaster.
He added, "It didn't matter who is the person in question. Be it Akshay, me, or anyone else; they have to do it; you have to do it - what is needed from you. I have never seen him still on set or even go to the washroom (laughs). I think people should see this film as the first time something like this has been done.:
Mission Raniganj is based on the story of Jaswant Singh Gill, a brave and diligent mining engineer from IIT Dhanbad who rescued 65 trapped miners at the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989.
