Parth Samthaan, who has made his television comeback with CID, after years of staying away from the medium, says he has not kept a 'track' of what is happening in Television after he left Kasauti Zindagi Kay 2.
In an interview with The Times of India, actor Parth Samthaan opened up about why he distanced himself from Indian television after his popular stint in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. The actor, who has since shifted focus to OTT projects, music singles, and films, shared his reasons for steering clear of the small screen and why he hasn’t looked back. Parth made it clear that the long-term commitment television demands simply didn’t align with his career ambitions. “All these years, I didn't want to do TV because I did not want to commit myself for such a long duration,” he said. “That commitment didn’t allow me to do anything else on my career front, like singles, OTT, and films. TV restricts you as an artiste for the longest period.”
For Parth, television, while rewarding in many ways, can also lull actors into a comfort zone. “According to me, it gets you into the comfort zone and makes an artiste complacent, ki haan ab yeh hi theek hai. With all due respect to the other actors who have been doing shows for several years, I, on the other hand, have become very lazy and want to explore something else.”
Despite the financial stability television can offer, Parth insists that money was never the motivator. “Yes, staying on a show pays one well also, but that has not been my priority. Agar aisa hota toh Kasautii ke saath saath mein Bigg Boss bhi kar leta aur bhi kitne shows hain woh bhi kar leta.”

Parth’s decision seems to be driven by creative restlessness. He believes that after a certain point in a show, he has already explored most character arcs: “I feel like after some time in a show, I have shown all the possible shades, and now I am on a repetitive mode.” Interestingly, the actor also touched upon the shifting trends in TV storytelling, especially the dwindling popularity of love stories. “Drama is something that people have enjoyed over the years, especially family drama on TV. They do not enjoy 'just' love stories on TV today. The love stories thing has shifted more to the OTT now.”
When asked about the concerning trend of TV shows wrapping up within months of launch, Parth admitted he hasn’t followed the scene closely since his Kasautii days. However, he offered a few insights: “The day I left Kasauti, I barely kept myself updated about the medium. Maybe what I feel is that the broadcasters today do not have the patience to sit and see and let a story stretch for a minimum time for it to work. The environment on the medium is fiercely competitive not only are we competing with other shows on the medium but different mediums itself.”

He also pointed out a key element of a successful show — chemistry. “Chemistry between the leads is needed to work, which I have done for most of my shows. If chemistry works between leads, shows click soon.”
