Sushant Singh Rajput’s Funeral to Take Place at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai

In a shocking turn of events, Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput ended his life by committing suicide on Sunday, June 14 2020. The actor was found hanging at his Bandra house in Mumbai and the police found antidepressant pills at his residence. Sushant, 34, was battling depression for the last six months and his close friends and maid suggest that he was disturbed since the last week.

The police had sent his body to Dr RN Cooper Municipal General Hospital in Mumbai for a post-mortem on Sunday. After conducting a post-mortem, the Cooper Hospital has released an advance certificate on Monday stating asphyxia due to hanging as the cause of his death in the report. The autopsy report has said prima facie it has been found that it is a case of suicide. His viscera samples have been preserved for chemical analysis and will be sent to the forensic science laboratory. He has also tested negative for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput’s funeral will take place on June 15 2020, Monday in Mumbai. The actor’s last rites will take place on Monday at Pawan Hans crematorium in suburban Vile Parle. Owing to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, only close family members and friends will be allowed to attend the funeral.

“Actor Sushant Singh Rajput's cremation will be held today at Pawan Hans, Vile Parle,” Sushant’s spokesperson informed PTI.

Sushant was the youngest of five siblings and is now survived by his father and four sisters. 

Yesterday, the actor’s sister Nitu Singh had rushed to the hospital, and his father arrived in Mumbai from Patna for the funeral. However, the actor’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti will be flying from the US and will reach Mumbai on June 16 2020.

On the work front, Sushant had a successful run in television with shows like Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil (2008), and Pavitra Rishta (2009–11), which garnered him massive popularity. Later in 2013, he made his movie debut with the buddy drama Kai Po Che! Sushant received worldwide recognition after his performance in the sports biopic M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016) and then went on to star in the commercially successful films Kedarnath (2018) and Chhichhore (2019).

Mukesh Chhabra's film Dil Bechara marks Sushant's last film before he died and the film will be released on digital platforms. Based on John Green's 2012 novel The Fault in Our Stars, the film also marks the debut of Sanjana Sanghi.
