Southern stars Selvaraghavan, Sonia file for divorce

Chennai, Aug 13 (IANS) Tamil director Selvaraghavan and his actress wife Sonia Agarwal have filed for divorce with mutual consent in a family court here.

They filed for divorce Wednesday. After months of speculation in the media about their 'stormy' relationship, both have now decided to end their 32-month-old marriage. The two tied the knot in December 2006.

Since the divorce is sought by both parties, the process is expected to be smooth and brief.

According to media reports, their relationship hit rock bottom after Selvaraghavan started going around with Andrea Jermiah who is playing a lead role in his yet to be released 'Aayirathil Oruvan'. It was even reported in a section of media that Sonia had once visited her husband on the sets of his movie and slapped Andrea for trying to take away her husband.

It was Selvaraghavan who introduced Sonia to films with 'Kadhal Konden' and later repeated her in two other movies.

Apparently superstar Rajnikant tried to mediate to save their marriage, but couldn't succeed. Selvaraghavan's younger brother Dhanush is married to Rajnikant's daughter Aishwarya.
