Sikandar is the big Eid release from Bollywood. Salman Khan is back with a masala action movie directed by none other than AR Murugadoss. The maker of hits like Ghajini and Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty, AR Murugadoss has presented the star in a manner that is loved by his fans. The leading ladies are Rashmika Mandanna and Kajal Aggarwal. Sikandar is expected to take an opening of above Rs 40 crores. If it picks up after the morning shows, then even Rs 45 crores is a possibility. After all, it is Salman Khan – a star whose low performing films have also crossed the Rs 100 crores mark.

The makers have also kept the pricing very competitive. Trade expert and exhibitor Akshaye Rathi said that affordable pricing is the key. Prices of the tickets in single screens across India is around Rs 100 to Rs 150. This means even a family of four or six can enjoy the film on a festive day without burning a big hole in their pockets. He told us that ticket prices in most single screens is around Rs 100. “The makers know that a full spectrum exists. Single screens are for masses and theatre owners have priced it accordingly,” he opined.

There are rumours of how tickets are going for as much as Rs 700 in a single screen hall like Mumbai’s Plaza. But it is much lesser pan-India. The advances for Sikandar are quite heartening. It has already made above Rs two crores in advance bookings as per Sacnilk. It is picking up steam as the release date draws closer.
