Shruti Haasan Reacts to Nayanthara’s Explosive Open Letter to Dhanush

The ongoing rift between Nayanthara and Dhanush has drawn responses from several Tamil actresses, including Shruti Haasan and Aishwarya Rajesh, both of whom have previously worked with Dhanush. The controversy erupted after Nayanthara penned an open letter on Saturday, accusing Dhanush of suing her for ?10 crore over the use of behind-the-scenes footage in her upcoming Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale.

In her strongly worded statement, Nayanthara alleged that Dhanush’s actions highlighted his "hypocrisy" and detailed the challenges she faced in obtaining permissions from him. She further criticized the legal notice sent by Dhanush after the release of the documentary trailer, which questioned the usage of a few seconds of behind-the-scenes footage.

"What’s even more shocking is your legal notice after the release of the trailer of the Netflix Documentary. We were startled to read those lines wherein you questioned the usage of some videos (just 3 seconds) which were shot in our personal devices and that too BTS visuals that are already very much publicly present on social media and claimed a sum of Rs.10 crores as damages for the mere 3 seconds. This is an all-time low from you and speaks so much about your character," Nayanthara wrote in her letter.

The letter has gone viral, prompting a wave of support for Nayanthara from actresses who have collaborated with Dhanush. Shruti Haasan, who starred alongside him in 3 (Moonu), showed her solidarity by ‘liking’ the post. Other actresses, including Aishwarya Rajesh (Vada Chennai), Aishwarya Lekshmi (Jagame Thandhiram), Nazriya Fahadh (Naiyaandi), Anupama Parameswaran (Kodi), Parvathy Thiruvothu (Maryan), Manjima Mohan (Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam), and Gouri G Kishan (Karnan), also voiced their support by engaging with the post on social media. Parvathy went a step further by sharing it on her Instagram Stories, commending Nayanthara for her courage.

The documentary, which released yesterday on Netflix, delves into the ups and downs of Nayanthara’s life and her relationship with director Vignesh Shivan. The actress claims she initially sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to include footage from her collaboration with Dhanush, but after being denied, the team decided to use publicly available behind-the-scenes videos.

As the controversy unfolds, Nayanthara’s letter has sparked broader discussions about the intricacies of collaboration and the ethics of intellectual property in the entertainment industry.
