Shreyas Talpade on the unique success of Pushpa 2: “A different league for dubbed films"

Shreyas Talpade, who provided the Hindi voice for Allu Arjun’s character in both Pushpa: The Rise and its sequel Pushpa 2: The Rule, has expressed his surprise at the overwhelming praise his dubbing has received. Reflecting on the unique success of Pushpa, he stated, “Many films are dubbed, and many artists do it daily. However, I have never seen this kind of acclaim for a dubbed film or for the voice artist in my entire career.”

At 48 years old, Talpade believes his performance resonated with audiences in a way that is uncommon for dubbed films. He remarked, “I still can’t pinpoint what made Pushpa stand out to viewers, but the response has been humbling.” Despite voicing the character Pushpa Raj, he revealed that he has never met Allu Arjun or director Sukumar. “I have never interacted with Sukumar ji or Allu ji. Their team is present during my dubbing sessions,” he explained. While he sometimes suggests changes during recording, he emphasizes the importance of adhering to the director's vision.

When asked about the film's success, Talpade attributed it to the strength of the story and Sukumar's creative direction. “Full marks to Sukumar and Allu Arjun,” he said, acknowledging that his honest approach to dubbing has contributed positively to both films. He admitted that recreating emotions in a studio setting is challenging but rewarding.

Talpade also shared heartwarming reactions from his family regarding his work. His mother, a fan of Allu Arjun, simply said she enjoyed his performance after watching the first film. His wife was even more enthusiastic about the sequel, exclaiming how great it sounded after seeing the teaser.

With the announcement of a third installment, Pushpa 3: The Rampage, Talpade noted that he has not yet received any updates regarding his involvement. “Nothing has been communicated to me yet. Whenever they do reach out, I will be ready,” he concluded.
