Shreyas Talpade Reacts to Rs 9 Crore Scam Allegations; Calls Them 'False and Baseless'

Bollywood actor Shreyas Talpade has finally broken his silence over allegations linking him to a multi-crore chit fund scam. Dismissing all accusations, he called the claims "baseless" and "completely false." The actor, known for his performances in films like Iqbal, Golmaal, and Poster Boys, has been named in an FIR related to fraudulent financial activities involving The Loni Urban Multistate Credit and Thrift Cooperative Society Limited.

The controversy erupted when reports suggested that the company had deceived investors in Mahoba district, Uttar Pradesh, by promising to double their money within a short period. Talpade's name surfaced in connection with the case, leading to speculations about his alleged involvement. However, his team has now issued a strong three-part statement refuting all claims. "It is deeply unfortunate that in today’s world, a person’s hard-earned reputation can be damaged by unfounded rumours. Recent reports linking Mr. Shreyas Talpade to fraud or misconduct are completely baseless and devoid of any merit whatsoever," the statement read.

Clarifying his position, the statement further added, "As a public figure, Mr. Talpade, like many other celebrities, is often invited to various corporate and annual events. He attends these events professionally and has no association whatsoever with the company in question. Needless to say, he has no connection with any fraudulent or unlawful activities as alleged."

In its concluding remarks, Team Shreyas Talpade urged the media and public to refrain from spreading misinformation. "We request everyone to verify facts before circulating baseless rumours. Mr. Talpade is a law-abiding citizen who upholds the highest standards of integrity, honesty, and professionalism in all his work."

This is not the first time Talpade’s name has been dragged into controversy. In February 2024, both he and veteran actor Alok Nath were mentioned in an FIR related to a ?9 crore scam in Lucknow. Additionally, they were named in a multi-level marketing fraud case in Sonipat, Haryana.

Despite these allegations, Talpade remains focused on his professional commitments. He will next be seen in Welcome to the Jungle, an ensemble comedy featuring Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, and Raveena Tandon. Additionally, he is part of Housefull 5, sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan.

As investigations continue, Talpade's team stands firm on his innocence and has urged responsible journalism to prevent further damage to his reputation.
