The actual cause for the 'Jersey' delay was revealed to be plagiarism charges upon the makers. A writer named Jagla claimed that the picture was plagiarised from his script.

The Bombay High Court ruled out the hearing in favour of the 'Jersey' creators, and they can finally heave a sigh of relief.

Aman Gill, the producer of 'Jersey,' says,

"We were all set to release our film Jersey this holiday weekend, but we didn't want to plan a release until the courts gave us a favourable order, and with the hearing scheduled for Wednesday, we didn't have time to plan for a Thursday release, so we decided to push it back a week to April 22, until we received such an order." We received a favourable order today, Wednesday, clearing the road for our release next week."

For the unversed, a writer had filed a lawsuit against the film's producers, stating that the story/script is his. Today, Justice Chagla of the Mumbai High Court was to hear the case.

When it comes to 'Jersey,' the film is the Hindi adaptation of Telugu film of the same name. The plot centers on a gifted but failing player, who wishes to make a return on the field, to represent the Indian cricket team, and to fulfill his son's demand for a jersey as a gift. It is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Pankaj Kapur plays a significant part in the film.

It's worth noting that this isn't the first time Jersey has been postponed. The film was originally scheduled to be released in December of last year, but it was postponed due to a huge increase of COVID-19 cases across the country.
