Shahid Kapoor rejects Dear Comrade's Hindi remake? Details below

Here’s why Shahid Kapoor refused to do another Vijay Deverakonda remake…

Shahid and Vijay

Shahid Kapoor has always had a rocky journey in Bollywood. The actor has faced his fair share of ups and downs in his entire 16 years of career. His recent movie Kabir Singh, a Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy, not only won big at the box-office collections and has impressed the audience and critics alike but had been dragged through the negative light due it’s ‘misogynist ideologies’. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the movie also starred Kiara Advani as the female lead.

Recently, as per Mumbai Mirror reports the 38-year-old actor was offered another one of Deverakonda’s movie, Dear Comrade, but he refused the Karan Johar production. Apparently, Shahid declined KJo's offer because he did not wish to star in another remake of Vijay Deverakonda’s film. The same reports also suggest that, the reason behind Shahid’s presence at the filmmaker’s party, last Saturday, was because of the offer.

Recently, in an interview with GQ India, Shahid revealed how he felt while chilling actors like Deepika Padukone, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor and others at Johar's party. He said, "I kind of feel like I don't belong here, I feel like a newcomer. I need to figure out this new room, and this new club that I've entered. Even though I've been here for 15-16 years, it's not my comfort zone; I need to get my head around it. I can't (afford to) feel like I know exactly what's going on, and exactly what I need to do next. So, I'm trying to keep it simple, and eventually, I'll go with my instinct and my gut."

Filmmaker Karan Johar was one the firsts, in Bollywood, who watched Dear Comrade. Even before its release on the big screens KJo had acquired the rights of the Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandana starrer for a remake. Deverakonda and the team of his film flew to Mumbai to meet KJo and as soon as he saw the film, he decided to remake the Telugu movie into Hindi. Apparently, Karan paid a whopping amount of Rs 6 crore to the makers to acquire the rights of Dear Comrade.

Needless to say, ever since the 47-year-old director-producer announced the Hindi remake of Dear Comrade, speculations about the film's lead actor has started doing rounds. It was said that Vijay Deverakonda himself would play the lead role however the actor politely declined the offer as he did not wish to play the same character on the screen again. Gossip mills were abuzz with the fact that Karan reportedly offered Rs 40 crore to Vijay for the Hindi remake but the actor wasn't keen to take up the film.
