Shabana Azmi, recently in an interview talked about her upcoming films and changing scenarios in the industry.
Bollywood veteran actress Shabana Azmi who has starred in path breaking movies like Arth, Masoom, Makdee and other recently talked about on her upcoming projects and how things are changing in the industry.
The renowned actor told Filmy Shilmy that the industry is going through a beautiful shift right now, and it's wonderful that female characters aren't just used as a showpiece in films anymore. She claimed that when she made Arth, the conclusion was difficult since the distributors claimed it was a fantastic movie, but they also claimed that an Indian wife refusing her husband would not be accepted.
However, it turned out that this was what was applauded. Filmmakers frequently don't understand what audiences are prepared to watch. She continued by saying that female actresses want to take on meaningful roles; they don't want to simply be pretty people in costumes. You must vigorously shrug off patriarchy.
The actor also spoke about her upcoming project Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, in which she will be paired opposite Dharmendra. The movie stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in lead roles. Opening up on her pairing with the veteran actor, Shabana said that Karan Johar is a dedicated Hindi film fan. Definitely, the whole idea of romance between her and Dharmendra’s character, is based on little snippets on Hindi films…so the audience will feast on what he’s got there. Also she can’t reveal too much, but it is certainly there.
For the unversed, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, directed by Karan Johar will release in July this year.
