Shabana Azmi in a Critical State; Injured in a Deadly Accident on Mumbai-Pune Expressway

In a shocking incident, veteran actress Shabana Azmi's car met with a fatal accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway in Maharashtra's Raigad district on Saturday afternoon leaving her with deadly injuries.

As per the preliminary information received so far, the incident took place around 3.30 pm near Khalapur, over 60 km from Mumbai, when the car in which she was traveling along with her husband and noted veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar, rammed into a truck and got crushed, said Raigad Superintendent of Police Anil Paraskar.

She was immediately rushed to the most nearby hospital from the accident spot, the MGM hospital in Navi Mumbai and has been in a critical state since then and undergoing treatment. So far it's not confirmed if Javed too has been injured but another unidentified woman is reported to be seriously hurt.

The Highway police patrol teams rushed to the accident site soon after receiving the information and have been investigating the matter. Further details are awaited.

It was just yesterday, January 17, 2020 that Javed Akhtar turned 75 and a big bash was held in the honour of his special day. The who's who of B-town attended the retro themed party dressed in various retro party outfits last night. Both, Javed and Shabana too were spotted dressed in different avatars enjoying the bash.
