Whether they realize it, or not, father's play a vital role in the life of their children. It is not only their physical presence that makes the children feel secure, but also a father's emotions and healthy words towards them. A father may sometimes be too harsh while teaching, or overlook intense emotions of children, but he is always a shoulder to lean on when children seek love or advice. As they say, "A father is a son's first hero, and a daughter's first love". Here's BollyCurry proudly presenting to you characters that have had a strong impact in the lives of fathers today.
When we
mention the term 'father' in Bollywood, we already know we are talking
big. The first name that crosses our minds, is the legend of Hindi
Cinema, Amitabh Bachchan. Almost all his fatherly characters in various
movies have largely been appreciated by the audience. I'd say, it all
began with Baghban. A tale of an elderly couple yearning for love
from their children, which is not reciprocated. Raj Malhotra, a joyous
man, yet one with principles, gave up everything he had only to keep his
children happy. In return, he only expected them to love him and take
cautious care of him, just like he did for them, when they were younger.
Through this movie Amit Ji conveyed the feelings of a father to the
audience. A few words that made my heart skip a beat: "If parents can
sacrifice their own time and teach children how to walk their first
steps during early stages of life, why do those children struggle and
refrain from holding their parents' hands and caring for them during
their last stages of life?"Amitabh Bachchan went on to play various characters that touched the hearts of his audience. When I talk about Baabul, where Balraj Kapoor decides to go against all odd laws made by society, for the sake of his daughter-in-law's happiness, I realize what it takes to be a father of a daughter or daughter-in-law. There are certain duties that need to be fulfilled, which require a lot of willpower to do, and indeed, that goodwill is always there in a father. Amit Ji, also played a rebellious, angry and helpless father in the movie Viruddh, willing to go to any extent to give justice to his son who was brutally murdered. Once again, he manages to evoke those feelings of a father, who cannot tolerate to see his child hurt at any cost. Other of his strong movies include: Waqt - The Race Against Time, Veer Zaara, Sooryavansham, Ek Rishtaa, and countless others for which Amit Ji received critical acclaim and awards.
Alok
Nath is also a known name when it comes to fatherhood in Bollywood. His
innocent face depicts the deepest feelings of a father. He is popularly
known for his roles in movies such as: Hum Saath-Saath Hain, wherein he played a humble and family-oriented father with traditional values yet modern thinking. His role in the movie Vivah
was greatly praised as well, in which although he played the character
of an uncle, he pursued all the qualities of being a perfect father to a
orphan girl. Nath might have had short roles in movies such as Pardes, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak,
but all of them were of significant importance to the storyline and
message: that fathers too, can carry out a majority of parental
responsibilities and deserve to be loved at a fair share.
Down
the lane there is Rishi Kapoor, another big name in the film industry.
There have been certain movies in the past decade where he played some
interesting fatherly roles in completely different avatars than that
played by other actors. In the movie Hum Tum, Arjun Kapoor was a
lonely father. He was leading his life in a misconception that he was
happier away from his family, and all sorts of forced relationships.
However, deep within he craved for love, and realized this when he saw
his son falling in love. This teaches me another lesson; just like every
other human being, fathers are prone to mistakes, and if wrong, they
are eligible to learn from their children. Rishi Ji also featured in the
movie Yeh Hai Jalwa, a tale of a father and son, along with
their adorable fights which do not seize to prove their relationship.
Rajesh Mittal, a renowned businessman does not accept that Raju Saxena
is actually his son, from an affair he had with another woman before his
marriage. The movie witnessed several scenes showing Rajesh's refusal
to accept Raju, yet towards the end he openly appreciates having Raju as
a son who wholeheartedly donated his kidney in order to save his
father. Such is the relationship of a father and son! Many other actors in Bollywood have played brilliant roles of a father in their respective movies: Sanjay Dutt in Kidnap, Aamir Khan in Akele Hum Akele Tum, Shah Rukh Khan in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and My Name Is Khan, plus a dozen others which can fill up a whole book.
We, at BollyCurry are running out of words to emphasize the importance of a father in every child's life. We do know that movies do not necessarily carry a huge impact on the real life of people out there, but we also secretly hope that you have learnt about certain qualities that father's have, try to appreciate your father all the more, and feel proud if you are one! Now signing off with the hope to write to you yet again, very soon!
