Selena Gomez, the popular singer and actress, recently opened up about her inability to carry children. Instead of letting this challenge bring her down, she is embracing her vulnerability with strength. In a viral video circulating on X, she sent a clear message that asking for help is not something to be ashamed of. “Telling people when you need help or when you want help — that is not shameful,” Gomez shared at a Women in Film event.
The 32-year-old star added, “So yeah, I shared that I can’t carry a child. Yeah, I shared that I have bipolar. F–k off. That’s what my life is. That’s who I am.” This bold statement showed her courage and confidence in sharing her personal struggles openly with the world.
During her speech, Gomez also had some strong advice for her younger sister, Gracie, and everyone present at the event. “Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re not a good person,” she said with passion. She emphasized that others shouldn’t define who you are based on your challenges.

Earlier this month, Gomez had shared more details in a Vanity Fair interview about her journey. She mentioned that adoption and surrogacy are both “huge possibilities” for her, as carrying a child would be medically risky. She confessed that it was a difficult reality to accept but one she had to grieve for some time.
Despite her fertility struggles, Selena is grateful for the alternative ways to become a mother. “I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different,” she expressed with hope. Beyond her fertility issues, Gomez has been open about her health battles, including lupus and her bipolar disorder.
