Selena Gomez Begins Wedding Plans with Benny Blanco: Here’s What She Wants

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are engaged, and the singer has already started planning her wedding. One special request she has made involves her Only Murders in the Building co-star, Martin Short.

During her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Selena revealed that Martin Short will be giving a speech at her wedding. She is certain it will be a memorable one. "Marty is due to give a speech," she said, adding, "I told him he must… I feel like Marty would have an epic speech."

The actress also mentioned that their co-star, Steve Martin, might entertain guests with his musical skills. Jokingly, she said, "He'll probably pull out his banjo." When Drew Barrymore suggested that Martin and Short could even officiate the wedding, Selena laughed and admitted that she had never thought of that before.

Selena and Benny, who confirmed their relationship in late 2023, got engaged in December 2024. She announced the happy news on Instagram with adorable pictures and a heartfelt message about their commitment to each other.

Sources revealed that Benny put a lot of thought into the proposal and even designed the marquise diamond ring himself earlier in 2024. In a recent interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Selena shared that she was in a bad mood on the day of the proposal and didn’t see it coming. Benny had invited her to visit the set of their project, I Said I Love You First, and she had no idea what was about to happen.

"I woke up and was very confused about what was happening or where we were going because it seemed kind of far," she admitted. "I was kind of a little grumpy and really tired." But despite her initial reluctance, she was overwhelmed with joy when Benny proposed, calling it a perfect moment.

Although Selena and Benny are excited about their future together, they are taking their time with wedding planning. One thing is for sure—Martin Short’s speech will be one of the biggest highlights of their big day.
