Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s niece- Sharmin Segal holds a dark past with nepotism!

The talks about nepotism have been repeatedly making it to the headlines. Many have raised their voices against the on-going hot-topic. They say while some are known to struggling for work, the star kids are known to hold their families as the golden ticket into Bollywood.

However, it hasn't been the same for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s niece - Sharmin Segal. She will be seen debuting in Bhansali’s production venture, Malaal.

Although, Sharmin holds a dark past with nepotism and it has made her cry. Recalling the incident, she said,  “I have been visiting the sets of my uncle’s films. I was an obese girl before. I was on the sets of (Goliyon Ki Raasleela) Ram-Leela. I could see that people on the sets were staring at me. I could feel that they were judging me (for her size). For what? Just because I am Sanjay sir’s niece? It was the time when I didn’t even have plans of becoming an actress. This is nepotism. I couldn’t take it and I cried.”

Sharmin was instantly in tears, and Priyanka Chopra who was a part of the film braced her up. She said, “Priyanka is an outsider, she sat me down. She told me that life has given me something special and that I should make the best use of it instead of breaking down. This is when I took up the challenge. My motto was to make my uncle proud.” At the time Sharmin confessed that she was 94 kilos and today she weighs 47 kgs.

Ask her about how she dropped nearly 50 kilos of her body weight and she adds, “I never speak about that as I did a lot of wrong things to cut down my weight. I don’t want people to take inspiration from that. I am not proud of it. However these days I work out with my fitness trainer Namrata Purohit to stay fit. My contemporaries and friends like Sara Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, who too work out in the same gym, inspire me a lot.”
