Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, in anticipation of the release of his upcoming film "Animal," recently reflected on the challenging experience of adapting his Telugu hit "Arjun Reddy" into Hindi as "Kabir Singh." He expressed that the process of remaking a film with a broad audience is not a straightforward task and can be quite challenging.
Sandeep revealed that he received numerous calls from Mumbai to work on the remake, and initially, the role of Kabir Singh was pitched to Ranveer Singh. However, Ranveer declined the offer, citing the dark content of the film as a reason.
During an interaction with iDream Media, Sandeep mentioned that he initially wanted to collaborate with Ranveer Singh for the Hindi adaptation of "Arjun Reddy."
However, Ranveer decided against it, deeming the content too dark for him at that point. Sandeep acknowledged, "First, it was pitched to Ranveer Singh. I wanted to do it with him. But finally, he decided he will not do it because it was too dark for him at that time."
Subsequently, Shahid Kapoor was approached for the role of Kabir Singh. Sandeep acknowledged that there were doubts and hesitations among people regarding this casting choice. However, Sandeep asserted his confidence in Shahid, emphasizing, "But I was always sure about Shahid; he’s a fantastic actor."
The upcoming film "Animal" has generated significant buzz as it marks the first collaboration between Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Ranbir Kapoor. In addition to the stellar cast, including Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, and Shakti Kapoor, among others, the movie is eagerly anticipated as a major release of the year.
