Salman Khan not replacing Amitabh Bachchan on KBC 17 - Reports

Amid ongoing speculation, Sony TV has firmly denied reports that Salman Khan will replace Amitabh Bachchan as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) Season 17. Sources close to the channel have dismissed these claims as “bizarre,” clarifying that Amitabh Bachchan remains the face of the iconic quiz show.

Rumours about Salman Khan potentially taking over from Big B surfaced after reports suggested the veteran actor might step back from hosting duties for personal reasons. Bollywood Hungama and other outlets had claimed that Salman was in “advanced talks” with Sony TV and could soon be announced as the new host. One insider even suggested viewers get ready to welcome Salman as the new host while Amitabh Bachchan would quietly exit.

However, India Today’s recent report has categorically denied these claims. A Sony TV source told the publication, “It is bizarre that such news reports are coming in. There is no way Big B would be replaced on the show.” The channel remains committed to Amitabh Bachchan continuing his long-standing role.

Adding weight to this, Amitabh Bachchan has already appeared in promotional posters and teaser videos for KBC 17. He is scheduled to shoot full promos in the coming weeks. The new season is expected to start filming in July, with a premiere set for the first week of August.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan is reportedly preparing to return as the host of Bigg Boss 19. Reports indicate he will shoot the first promotional video for the show by the end of June, with the season likely to launch in late July.

Sony TV officially announced the 17th season of KBC on April 4 with a quirky promo featuring Amitabh Bachchan. In the clip, Big B played a patient with a stomach ache who revealed the excitement was due to the show’s return. He also encouraged viewers to register for the new season through Sony LIV, SMS, or IVR.

Since its launch in 2000, Amitabh Bachchan has hosted KBC every season except Season 3, which featured Shah Rukh Khan. With his continued presence confirmed, fans can expect the familiar voice and style to return for KBC 17.
