Sajid Nadiadwala plans 'Jigarthanda' remake with a new duo; Find out who!

After the release of Stree, actor Rajkummar Rao has been in demand and every filmmaker is keen to work with him. With many interesting projects on his work front, Rao has yet again bagged a lead role in the Sajid Nadiadwala-produced remake of the Tamil film Jigarthanda. The actor will essay the role played by Siddharth Narayan in the Tamil version.

Also, Saif Ali Khan's name is being considered to play the gangster in the film. Earlier, he has played a desi gangster in films like Omkara and Bullet Raja. In a previous interview, the actor had said that he was looking forth to play a classy gangster in one of his future films as well.

Talking about the Jigarthanda remake, a source close to Deccan Chronicle revealed, "When Ajay Devgn bought the rights of the film a few years ago, he wanted Farhan to play the filmmaker and Sanjay Dutt to play the gangster. The casting was like picking up the sitting ducks to essay the roles, as both Farhan and Sanju were apt to do it. But since that project went into cold storage, director Abhishek Chaubey came out with his wishlist for the roles and has zeroed in on Rajkummar and Saif for the said characters. While Bobby Simha had a very desi style in the Tamil film, the character designed for Saif is a little more stylish."

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala is planning this remake on a large scale and the film will have a young actress as the leading lady opposite Rao. The script has been adapted to suit the sensibilities of Hindi speaking audience rather than going for an exact copy. 

The film has been scheduled to go on floors later this year after Rajkummar and Saif finish their respective commitments.

On the work front, Rao is gearing up for the release of Judgementall Hai Kya which stars Kangana Ranaut as the leading lady. While Saif is busy with the London schedule of Jawaani Jaaneman.
