Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara is a monster at the box office. Indian youth from metros, tier-one cities, semi-urban and rural areas are flocking to theatres to watch the story of Krish and Vaani. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda have got the best debut in Bollywood in years. The title track of Saiyaara is in the top 50 of the Spotify Global chart. Animal maker Sandeep Reddy Vanga was one of the few directors who wished Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda the best on the day of the release. He wrote that he was keen to watch a movie from the Hindi heartland that was pure romance and drama.

In an earlier interview with Filmygyan, Mohit Suri said people made Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s movies controversial by continuously discussing them. He said even Mahesh Bhatt and Ram Gopal Varma made such films. Mohit Suri said every filmmaker had the right to tell a story in his own manner. If the audience did not like it, they could reject the same.

In the same interview, he said he loved Animal and even congratulated Sandeep Reddy Vanga but not on social media. Mohit Suri said that he admired the intensity and fearlessness with which Vanga brought his emotions on screen. As we know, people have slammed Kabir Singh as a toxic love story and Animal as downright misogynistic. Actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna who have worked with Sandeep Reddy Vanga and appreciated him have also faced trolling. However, the amount of discussion his films invite proves that his work cannot be ignored.

Saiyaara is being hailed as the love story for Gen-Z. People feel the movie connected as it highlighted the real emotions of this generation without the gloss. There is a certain amount of anger in Mohit Suri's lead characters as it is there in Animal's Rannvijay.
