Saiyaara: Ahaan Panday successfully became Krish Kapoor due to his strong lip sync, says lyricist Irshad Kamil

Saiyaara is a rage at the box office, and Bollywood has got two new stars in form of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. Many believe the melodious music of the film has played the biggest role in bringing audiences to the theatres along with the emotionally charged trailer. India Forums had an exclusive chat with Irshad Kamil, who has written the beautiful title track of the film. He tells us that Mohit Suri worked with the composers/lyricists for more than a year to have a soundtrack that would work like magic. Talking about the low key promotions for Saiyaara, he said, “Over the years, I have realised one thing. There are people who like to talk about work, and ones who let their work speak for itself. Mohit, Ahaan and this team belongs to the latter category. We developed the music along with the script.” He further says that there was no stress while working on the film as everyone gave more than 100 per cent. “When you do that you have confidence. Now, it is upto the viewers to accept or reject your work,” h

Kamil further says Mohit Suri told him to get into the soul of Krish Kapoor. “He has immense clarity on what he needs in his film. The title track comes towards the climax. The female portion sung by Shreya Ghoshal had to be very impactful. He told me to think like Krish and write lyrics that conveyed the depth of his love.”

The lyricist who has won multiple awards is full of praise for Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda for their lip sync skills. “I have always maintained that a song with good lip sync connects more than one playing in the background. You see a character singing on the big screen and want to imitate them. The feel of the song reaches the viewer in a better manner. Ahaan did perfect lip sync and truly lived the role of Krish. Aneet also presented the emotional journey of Vaani with passion and skill,” he gushes.

Saiyaara produced by YRF and directed by Mohit Suri is all set to overtake Kabir Singh at the box office. The U/A certificate has also helped in bringing young people and families to the theatres.
