Robert Pattinson's time couldn't be better. Apart from the fact that he will actually be playing the new Batman, the actor has a big release lined up in the form of the film, The Lighthouse. Co-starring Willem Dafoe, the movie has already received immense critical acclaim so far and has been considered a contender for Oscars.
However, there was a question if Pattinson would be considered for leading actor along with Dafoe or anything else. According to Variety, Pattinson will be submitted in the lead actor category while Dafoe will be in the supporting actor field.
While the film is very much a two-hander, Pattinson has more screen time and his character serves as the audience’s point of view. Though he has never been nominated for an Oscar, Pattinson has more than proven his chops since breaking through in the “Twilight” films, working with such directors as David Cronenberg, the Safdie brothers and Christopher Nolan.
If Dafoe were to be nominated, it would be his third consecutive nod after last year’s At Eternity’s Gate and 2017’s The Florida Project.
