Riya Sharma approached to replace Hiba Nawab as female lead in Jhanak opposite Arjit Taneja: REPORT

Star Plus' show Jhanak is all set to take a 20 year leap, post which, the current cast of the show including Hiba Nawab, Krushal Ahuja and Chandni Sharma will call it quits. This news was exclusively reported by India Forums to our readers, which was later confirmed to us by all three of them.

While there are several reports surrounding the new star cast of the show, recent reports now suggest that Riya Sharma is now in contention to essay the female lead. Reports suggest that the actress has been approached to play the female lead of the show opposite Arjit Taneja.

Media reports also suggest that Sehban Azim, Zain Imam and Rohit Chandel have also been in contention along with Arjit Taneja to play the male lead of the show, however, things are still nascent and in the pipeline and there is no confirmation on the same.

On the work front, Riya, last seen in Dhruv Tara opposite Ishaan Dhawan, gained widespread recognition after her stint on the show and her camaraderie with Ishaan was widely loved.

On the other hand, Arjit was last seen in Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gaye opposite Sriti Jha. The show recently went off air.

For the uninformed, Jhanak has always been at the receiving end of extreme criticism due to its regressive story telling. From normalising extra marital affairs to glorifying toxic male leads in the name of love, Jhanak has had a history with toxic story telling.
