Actor Rimi Sen will always be remembered for her innings in multiple films in the 2000s which include the likes of Dhoom, Hungama and so many other films.

But she has been off the radar for a long time where apart from Bigg Boss, she has barely been in any projects. While we reported on how the actor is all set to make a return and will be seen in a music video, there has been another unfortunate incident that she finds herself in the news for.

Sen has reportedly filed an FIR against a Goregaon-based businessman for allegedly defrauding her of Rs 4.14 crore. According to a report in Zoom Digital, the accused persuaded her with promises of 28-30 percent profits and forced her to deposit Rs 4.14 crore in a new business endeavour through her film production company. The report added that neither the principle nor the anticipated profits were returned to her. The actress also claimed that the person has stopped communicating with her since then.

The report also further added that the fraud began in 2019 when she met the accused at an Andheri gym. He had convinced her that he was involved in investments through his family's company.

A police officer said, “When they became friendly, he approached her and offered 28-30 percent returns if she invested in his new business venture. He added that the accused had given the actress a cheque for Rs 3.50 crore as security at the time.

The report stated that between February and July of 2019, the actress deposited a total of Rs 1 crore to his company. He guaranteed her 40 percent profits on her future investments after receiving the funds. Between October 2019 and November 2020, Sen transferred another Rs 3.14 crore.

When Sen didn't receive the promised returns within the time frame, she questioned the accused, who always reportedly came up with an excuse. In March 2020, when Rimi followed up on the situation with the accused, he just transferred a sum of Rs 3 lakh to her firm's bank account.

As the last resort, the actor deposited the Rs 3.50 crore cheque that he had given her as security, only to discover that the bank account had been locked. She later discovered that the accused had never launched a business enterprise and reported the incident to the police.

Khar police filed a FIR on Tuesday, charging the accused with defrauding and criminal breach of trust.
