Actor Ravi Mohan has taken legal action against Bobby Touch Gold Universal Private Limited, a production house he had signed a two-film deal with. The actor moved the Madras High Court recently, filing a defamation case and seeking compensation of ?9 crore for what he calls “deliberate delays” and breach of contract by the producers.
According to reports, Ravi claims that he blocked his dates for the said projects from January to March 2025. He alleged that despite giving an 80-day call sheet, the production company failed to commence shooting. This, he says, led him to reject other film offers during the same period.
The PS 1 actor’s contract with the production house eventually lapsed, after which he signed on new films. However, the production house later issued him a notice demanding the return of the ?6 crore advance he had received for the unfulfilled projects.
Ravi Mohan has argued in court that he is willing to repay the advance, but holds the producers accountable for mismanagement and reputational damage. The defamation plea reportedly mentions that he was publicly blamed for backing out of commitments, which impacted his credibility in the industry.
The case has also brought up Ravi’s involvement in Parasakthi, where he plays the antagonist. The producers allege that taking up the film breached their agreement. Ravi, on the other hand, contends that his deal with them had already expired, and he was free to take on new projects.
The Madras High Court has now directed the production house to file its response by July 23, 2025.
On the work front, Ravi was last seen in Kadhalikka Neramillai, a romantic comedy co-starring Nithya Menen. Directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, the film loosely drew from the 2010 Hollywood movie The Switch.
He is currently shooting for Parasakthi, a political period drama directed by Sudha Kongara, which also features Sreeleela and Atharvaa Murali in pivotal role
