Ranveer would vanish away for ten hours and just absorb the character - Karan Johar

And while multiple aspects of the film have been loved and adored, one character that has received immense love is that of Rocky Randhawa, himself, played by Ranveer Singh.

The antics, the emotion and the humor and the kind-hearted nature of the role has transpired in the best way possible indeed 

In a full-length interview with Film Companion, Johar mentioned about how Singh made the character his own and also shared some unknown anecdotes.

Talking about his input and dedication to the character, Johar first credited his writers, Ishita Moitra, Sumit Roy and Shashank Khaitaan for writing some of the most hilarious dialogues which formed the best base as the assignment was clear on what his character should be. When it came to Singh, Johar mentioned how he prepped for everything right from the get-go. From being on a recce (where actors aren't needed) to constantly interacting with actual people in Delhi to then being with the West Delhi content creators and influencers, Singh entirely immersed himself in the character. 

He also mentioned how Rocky is an OTT version of Singh himself but it is only one side that Singh shows to the world. He then shared an unknown anecdote of how Singh is not just like everyone perceives him to be the entire time. He is an actor who would vanish away for hours and hours and is almost unreachable for the longest time when prepping up for a role. He mentioned how he would tease Singh that he doesn't know how to get in touch with him during prep because he would just vanish away for ten hours which is when he is thinking, sitting, and absorbing the character.

Johar further shared yet another anecdote about the first day of RRKPK which is the scene where Rocky and Rani meet for the first time in the office. That was the day when Singh was extremely hyper and worried because due to some mistake, he was under the impression that they are going to shoot another scene and when he came on set. It was this sequence which is extremely key to the story as it is the first meeting between Rocky and Rani. Johar mentioned that he noticed that Singh wasn't feeling it as he had prepared for something entirely else and now he had to shoot for this key scene. Following that, Johar gave time off and asked him to take his time and they had a break for four hours before the shot. He further said that he has no idea what he did in those four hours but when he came back and they shot as Johar was looking at the monitor, he just saw him get the character instantly and nail it.

Quite an interesting anecdote that takes us into the world more, isn't it?
