The Mumbai Police have rejected Ranveer Allahbadia’s request to record his statement from home in the ongoing investigation into the controversial remarks made on India’s Got Latent. Instead, they have asked him to appear at the Police Station for questioning. This decision shows how seriously the authorities are handling the matter.
Allahbadia was initially served a summons, but after he failed to respond, a second one was issued. Meanwhile, others linked to the show have already recorded their statements. Influencers Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija, who were judges on the show, have visited the Khar Police Station. Additionally, Balraj Ghai, the studio owner, and three technical staff members have also provided their statements.
Host Samay Raina, who is currently in the U.S. for his stand-up tour, had requested more time to appear. However, the Maharashtra Cyber Police denied his request and issued a second summons, requiring him to be present on February 17.
This controversy began when Allahbadia made an inappropriate comment on the show, leading to massive backlash and legal scrutiny. Following public outrage, he apologized, acknowledging his mistake, and the show’s controversial segments were taken down.
The police have taken strong action, summoning over 40 people involved in producing the show’s 18 episodes, including content creators, organizers, and attendees. They have also reached out to YouTube, asking them to remove all episodes from the platform.
By refusing Allahbadia’s request for a home-recorded statement, the authorities are ensuring a fair and thorough investigation. Their firm stance suggests they are committed to maintaining transparency in the case. As developments continue, those involved remain under public and legal scrutiny.
