The controversy around the popular YouTube comedy show “India’s Got Latent” has now reached a serious stage. According to reports, Maharashtra Cyber Police is now considering legal action against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia and content creator Apoorva Mukhija for not cooperating with the investigation. Despite receiving summons, both influencers failed to appear before the authorities.
As per sources from India TV, the Cyber Cell had summoned four creators — Samay Raina, Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia and Apoorva Mukhija — for questioning. While Samay and Ashish responded and gave their statements, Ranveer and Apoorva did not show up or send any formal reply. Due to this non-cooperation, legal action could soon be taken against them.
Earlier, both Ranveer and Apoorva had mentioned that they were getting threatening messages on social media. However, neither of them filed any official complaint with the police. This raised further questions about their silence and lack of response to the summons.
Recently, Apoorva Mukhija, also known as ‘The Rebel Kid’, posted screenshots of hateful messages she has received in recent months. On Tuesday, she shared a series of Instagram stories showing rape threats, death threats, and acid attack warnings she received after the India’s Got Latent issue came to light. She captioned the post with a warning: "Trigger Warning: This post contains mentions of acid attacks, rape threats, and death threats." She also wrote, "And that's not even 1% (sic)."
The entire controversy began after Ranveer Allahbadia allegedly made an objectionable remark in one of the episodes of Samay Raina’s comedy show. The clip went viral, sparking huge backlash. FIRs were registered, and people demanded strict action. Stand-up comedian Samay Raina, who was abroad at the time, returned to India on March 28, 2025, and appeared before the Cyber Cell.
Now, as Ranveer and Apoorva continue to stay away from the investigation, the Cyber Police is reportedly planning the next legal steps. With public pressure growing, it remains to be seen how this case will unfold in the coming days.
