Ranbir Kapoor Describes Playing Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana' as a Dream Role

Ranbir Kapoor is all set to captivate his fans with his role in the highly anticipated film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The actor recently attended the prestigious Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, where he shared his excitement about the project, calling it a 'dream' to portray Lord Rama in this epic mythological tale.
During his conversation at the festival, Ranbir was asked about his upcoming projects. He replied, "The film I’m working on currently is Ramayana, which is the greatest story ever. My childhood friend Namit Malhotra, somebody who is so passionately making this film, has got the best of all the artists from the world – creative people and the crew."
Ranbir went on to mention that the film is being helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and will be released in two parts. He confirmed that he had already completed shooting for the first part and would soon begin work on the second part. He expressed his gratitude and said, "I’m so humbled to be essaying Lord Rama’s role. It’s a dream for the team, especially for me, and it’s a film which has everything."
The actor also shared his enthusiasm about the movie, which blends cultural values with a powerful message. "It’s a story of the victory of good over evil, family dynamics, and husband-wife relationships," he added, showing his excitement for the project. The buzz around Ramayana has only grown since its announcement. The film will feature Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Raavana, and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, among other talented actors.
Recently, Ravi Dubey praised Ranbir’s humility and grace, calling him a true megastar despite his grounded nature on set. The film is set to release in two parts, with Part 1 arriving on Diwali 2026 and Part 2 on Diwali 2027. Apart from Ramayana, Ranbir also has Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, in his upcoming lineup.
