Ramayana: This KGF star OVERJOYED on Sai Pallavi bagging Ranbir Kapoor's film even though she MISSED OUT

This KGF star celebrates Sai Pallavi’s role in Ramayana with Ranbir Kapoor, despite missing out on the opportunity herself.

Srinidhi Shetty, who rose to fame with her performance in the blockbuster KGF series, has finally opened up about losing the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming magnum opus Ramayana. While Telugu star Sai Pallavi has been officially roped in to play Sita opposite Ranbir Kapoor’s Ram, Srinidhi admitted that she too was in the running for the role.

In a recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Srinidhi shared her experience of auditioning for the part. “Now, as the shoot is already happening, I guess I can say it. Yes, I did meet and give a screen test. I remember preparing three scenes very well, and they had a great response; they loved it,” she revealed.

She further added that during the time of her audition, the buzz around KGF 2 was at its peak, and the idea of her and Yash—who is playing Raavan in the film—being cast together once again seemed exciting. “I had heard that Yash was a part of Ramayana… So I was thinking, he will play Raavan, I will play Sita; we will be pitted against each other. So people might not have been able to digest us against each other,” she said.

Despite losing the role, Srinidhi held no bitterness. In fact, she expressed genuine happiness for Sai Pallavi’s casting. “But I feel Sai Pallavi is a great choice. I would love to see her as Sita in the movie, and like I always say—when something works, it's great; when something doesn't, it's still wonderful because new doors will open for you.”

Srinidhi, who won the Miss Supranational 2016 crown, made her acting debut with KGF Chapter 1 and became a household name. After the success of KGF Chapter 2 and her Tamil debut Cobra, she will next be seen in HIT: The Third Case opposite Nani, set to hit theatres on 1 May.

Meanwhile, Ramayana is shaping up to be a grand cinematic event with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film will release in two parts—one in 2026 and the second in 2027.
