Fame is a bi-product of your journey and should always be looked at in this way, says Yashomati Maiyya Ke Nandlala actor Rahul Sharma. He adds that while TV soaps help you become famous with your character name, even this fame is short-lived.

“It all depends on the impact you had on people’s minds. When you are playing the main character, you will be remembered by the name of the character. But yes, nowadays, people search for your name. Who is this guy? They want to know more about you. So that's how it works. I think it's a good thing because if you are an actor, if you have chosen this field to act, then definitely the characters which will come along in your way and the journey of your acting, they will give you the chance to prove yourself as an actor. And those characters are making you, building you as an actor, your career and all. If you talk about reality shows, yes, it is a different platform and you will be known by your name, but you are not acting in that. That requires a different kind of effort,” he says.

However, you need to constantly work hard for any kind of fame and fortune, he says, adding, “Fame is very fragile and not really long-lasting. It’s like you do a good role, play it well, and you get famous. And then, you need to prove yourself again in your next project to remain famous. You have to deliver your performance well, and you have to choose wisely what you are doing next. It's good to be famous, but it will not help you in your career if you are famous and choose the wrong projects and make the wrong decisions in your life. Fame is illusionary in that sense.”

Social media hands over fame very easily, but it might not be the kind of fame that you want, he says, “I think these days, not only for actors, fame is the main factor for everyone. Now, on social media these days, people want to be famous. You can get his fame by doing some meaningless thing on social media! From my point of view, fame should be just part of what you are doing, it cannot be your ultimate goal. You have to prove yourself again and again. If you are an actor and if you truly love your craft and truly want to make a difference and do something in this field, then it cannot just be about fame, it's about dedication, hard work. It's about your love towards your craft,” he adds.
