"My EXIT from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was pre-planned and not sudden" - Gaurav Wadhwa

The actor spills beans on his character on other things...

Gaurav Wadhwa aka Shubham recently made his exit from Star Plus' Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. And his death sequence was a heart wrenching one. Along with Shubham's death, came the show's 2 year leap, Kartik (Mohsin Khan) and Naira's (Shivangi Joshi) separation and the show's storyline shifted to Mumbai.

We spoke to Gaurav about his short but memorable journey on the show.

Shubham has now become a house hold name. How does that feel?

It feels great to get recognised as Shubham every where. As an actor, it's an achievement for me that my audience has accepted me as Shubham and connected to his feelings. And that means that I've succeeded in playing this role. To be very honest this was one of my favourite characters.

Your track ended rather abruptly, but the revamp was in the pipeline for quite sometime now.

Yes, I was aware of this and I had a proper meeting with Rajan Sir regarding the ending of my character. So in a way, it was somewhat pre-planned.

What is the one thing that you are going to miss the most?

I'll miss the bond I had with the cast and the crew of the show. Each and every one is so supporting and quite veteran in what they do .

So what is next in the pipeline for Gaurav now?

To be very honest, right now I am just focusing on my diet and workout because I had a very tight schedule and it became hard to cope up with fitness. But I'll start my meetings very soon.

We wish Gaurav all the best for his future projects! And we are certain, that his fans will dearly miss him from the show.
