I am my own Competitor - Apurva The Contestant of SRGMP

As the Saregamapa Challenge 2007 is getting its popularity, the contestants of the show are also becoming popular amongst the general public. Now that the elimination depends upon voting, the contestants are doing their best to impress the public and get maximum votes.. One among these contestants is Apurva who has achieved more than 100 awards for singing during his college days.. He is also an MBA graduate but his main focus now is on singing.. We caught up with this 27 year Old singing Sensation Apurva of Hit Squad and here is what he had to say as to how he developed interest in music, his journey in SRGMP and much more..

How did you get interest in music? Have you taken any professional training, if so from whom?
I got into music as a mistake,I still remember those days when i enrolled my name in my college for Mimicry competition, later the lists were exchanged and my name was enrolled in Singing competition by mistake. My father advised me that u can sing and then i gathered some guts and i participated in singing competition on 15aug95,I got first prize in that competition, and then there was no looking back,i went on participating in intercollege competions representing my college, and I have more 100 intercollege competion awards won form pioneers of music like Anu malik,Manhar udhas,Pankaj udhas,Shravan of Nadeem shravan group,Jaswinder narula, peenaz masani and many more.
I have a basic fundamental training in music but i was very irrregular as i was busy in my studies as i m MBA in marketing, and later on in job, working as Financial manager in ICICI Prudential

You are an MBA graduate.. So, in which line do you want to concentrate your career on? Music or Marketing?
MBA in marketing has changed my attitude towards the world.
marketing is evergreen,As a singer,My identity is a Brand and my original voice is my Brand equity,so Marketing my identity and my voice is a challenge to spread it to the masses.
I have dedicated my life to music
How has been your journey in Saregamapa and what difference it has made in your life?
I got birds eye view towards music,How can i use my voice to fullest possibility, that what i learned from my mentors Vishal and Shekhar,as according to them my voice is playback voice which suit any hero.
Who do you see as your competitor in this challenge and how confident are you that you will win this contest?
I live in present, and give my best, each performance is like a war to me.
My biggest competitor in the competition is "my last performance".I keep benchmarks to improve over my last performance.
Tell us some memorable moments spent in the sets of Saregamapa and how have been the relationship with other contestants?
My mentors are like a friend, philosopher and guide to me,and they always have time for me inspite of their busy schedule.
Saregampa is like a family to me,and contestants are my family members

Do you think public voting is a good choice to choose the winner in a reality show? And how will you convince the public to vote for you?
Pubic voting is a concept "Janata ki Awaaz" so it is.
Public should vote me because I am a versatile singer who can touch every parameter of playback music. My aim of life is to promote quality music where every individual in family can see me collectively, not in isolated manner in different hidden spots.I am strictly against vulgarity.
i will promote "soothing music' to my audience, will take them away from their grief and sorrow and which will give them an enthusiasm to live a lively life.
Your message for all your fans...
Always "believe in yourself and others will believe you"

As said - "Success is a journey, not a destination." Apurva has a very good voice and has a long journey to travel to reach his destination. India-Forums wishes Apurva a very good journey ahead..
