The current state of the Indian entertainment industry certainly demands a lot of debate where multiple actors and others continue to talk about whether shoot should have resumed or not as cases continue to rise and even actors are being contracted with coronavirus.
Amidst that, there is also a range of actors and other technicians who suffer from not having any work to literally begging for good work in spite of having done a range of projects on the tube.
One of them is actor Sameeksha Sud, who is best known for her roles in shows like Baalverr, Doli Armaanon Ki, and Ek Aastha Aisi Bhi among others. However, the actor managed to amass a huge fan following on the recently banned TikTok application (20 million)> Nevertheless, in a recent in-length interview with ETimes TV, Sud opened up on the decision to move away from the TV and willing to do fresh content.
She said, "The shift happened gradually. There was no thought behind it. I love television and even today, I love it the most. In fact, I have begged in my interviews that please offer me good work. I have the acting 'ka keeda' within me. So, I try to keep satisfying the actor within me by creating videos. The issue with our TV industry is that they typecast you very soon and I have been typecast. It has been two to three years but I've been trapped in it. I had played the role of 'bhabhi' in Doli Armaano Ki and Ek Aastha Aisi Bhi when I was just 21 years old. I did not have much knowledge about what to do and what not and because work kept coming, I took it up. Now, I don't want to keep repeating my characters."
She added, "I want to do something fresh and that is what I am expecting from TV. I don't have high expectations or dreams that I will work only for Star Plus shows or only if Balaji launches me. I am very simple and I just need good characters, jo karne mein bhi mazza aaye (which are fun to do). I want to do new things every day. I cannot repeat the same thing for 365 days. I have done that in the past and now I can't do it. It gets quite boring to wear the same makeup, mouth the same dialogues every day, it gets monotonous."
