On an Epic Way

From enacting the character of a man with a modern outlook on his debut show Na Aana Is Des Laado to a forest range officer on Bandhan - Saari Umar Humein Sang Rehna Hai, actor Aditya Redij will now be seen portraying the role of a great hero Karna in a new mythological show Suryaputra Karn.

For the first time, Aditya will be a part of mythological show. Sharing about it, he says, "I will be playing the role of Karna, who is one of the iconic characters from the history of Mahabharat. However, surprisingly, no show till now has explored Karna's side of story."

An epic show involves intensive research and preparations. And that's what Aditya is currently focusing on. "As things were finalised last week, I didn't have enough time preparing this role as I will start shooting by end of this month. At the moment, I'm studying his mannerisms, body language and his looks, the way he dealt with situations, his qualities etc. I have been also reading books on him to understand him better." reveals Aditya.

With mythological shows trending on television of late, including Maharana Pratap, Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, we wonder if he feels any kind of pressure to make this new show different from others, and he shares, "It's never a one man's job. It's a team work. I'm doing my best and the production house is capable enough. They had produced the successful show Mahabharat before. Besides, Sony is known for making different kind of shows. We are trying to keep it entertaining and intriguing."

The actor recently shot for promos of the show and shares that it has been quite an elating experience for him.

Okay. So, what do you have to say about the changing trend from daily soaps to epic shows? "I would call these as different phases of television. Like earlier, there was trend of horror shows, crime series etc. This is also a phase. Everyone wants to do something new and different," he explains.
