Nayanthara's Bollywood debut ‘Jawan’ leaves her unhappy with Atlee: What went wrong?

Actress Nayanthara who shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan in director Atlee's film, "Jawan," seems to be grappling with disappointment over her role in the movie. While "Jawan" featuring SRK in a dual role has stormed into the coveted Rs 900 crore club worldwide within just 13 days of its release. Well according to reports, Nayanthara's Bollywood debut experience appears to have left her unsatisfied.

Reports from Hindustan Times suggest that Nayanthara may not be eager to take on more Bollywood projects in the near future. According to a source, her discontent stems from the way her character was handled in the film. The reports stated that she has been very upset with Atlee because her role was chopped in the film. Also, Deepika's (Padukone) character was elevated, and her part was significantly sidelined.

For the unversed, Deepika Padukone made an extended appearance in "Jawan." Her role was met with acclaim from the audience, almost turning the film into an SRK-Deepika project. Given Nayanthara's stature as a leading actor in the South Indian film industry, this sidelining did not sit well with her. 

Notably, Nayanthara was conspicuously absent from all promotional events for "Jawan," including a recent success meet in Mumbai. The event, graced by SRK, Deepika, Vijay Sethupathi, Anirudh Ravichander, Atlee, Sanya Malhotra, and Ridhi Dogra, did not see Nayanthara's participation. However it is said that Nayanthara's absence from promotional events is not a new trend. She has a strict policy of refraining from participating in promotional activities for her films.
