Prabhu Deva's first wife, Ramlath bares her heart, reveals why she won't slam him despite split, infidelity

Prabhu Deva’s personal life has been quite the rollercoaster ride. From finding love with Ramlath at a young age, to his roaring affair with Nayanthara and second marriage with Himani Singh, he has loved and lost. The choreographer and director married Ramlath in the 90s. She was a Muslim classical dancer who converted to Hinduism to marry him. They were blessed with three kids, and the eldest passes away due to cancer. They divorced 14 years ago after he fell in love with Nayanthara and wanted to marry her. 

Ramlath has finally spoken about what equation they share at present. She spoke to Aval Vikatan quite candidly. Ramlath said that Prabhu Deva and she share two sons together, and co-parenting binds them in a cordial relationship. She said she would never badmouth him as he has always been a great father. He said whenever she has faced challenges with the kids, he is by her side. 

“His children are his life. He is very attached to both of them. The father-son trio talk to each other irrespective of the situation. We take every decision mutually, when it comes to our children.”

She also said that he was a good human being. Ramlath said that Prabhu Deva never uttered a bad word about her to anyone. This is why she still respects him. Ramlath further said, “I would be angry with him if he had said anything bad about me after we broke up, but he never did. I would not say anything bad about someone like that.”

The couple got divorced in 2011 due to his affair with Nayanthara. Prabhu Deva was serious about her, and wanted to settle down. But it seems Nayanthara did not agree to his idea of quitting movies after she got married. They broke up after a passionate love story of four years. In fact, Ramlath had encouraged a protest against her to ban her from working after this whole relationship came to the fore.
