Post the successful revenge drama 'Ek Hasina Thi', Vatsal Sheth and Sanjeeda Shaikh reunited for Vikram Bhatt's web series 'Gehraiyaan', which is a horror thriller.

The thrilling series, which is India's first digital horror show, has Vatsal in the lead essaying the mysterious and intriguing character of Sahil.

In an interview with India-Forums, Vatsal revealed what is it like to work with the ace of horror, veteran Vikram Bhatt and why he believes the way of content consumption is changing.

We started off by quizzing Vatsal about how he made his foray into the world of acting. Vatsal then revealed, "I honestly had no intentions of getting into acting, but fate had other plans. I was studying to become a software engineer, when my friend's mother, who is a casting director, asked me to audition for the lead role of 'Just Mohabbat'. After that show, there's been no looking back. All I can say is that I got absorbed into the world of acting and now I am here to stay."

'Gehraiyaan' is Vatsal's second project in the web series genre, where he will be seen playing a negative shade. We asked Vatsal to tell us what made him choose the character of Sahil in the first place.

"The role of Sahil instantly caught my attention as it gives me an opportunity to experiment with different emotions, all in one role. The role is very fascinating, exciting, edgy and very dark. My character in 'Gehraiyaan' will redefine the netherworld on Indian celluloid, an anti-hero that audiences will love to hate."

He further revealed, "Sahil is a friendly neighbour with a mysterious twist. Sahil bumps into Reyna played by Sanjeeda Sheikh in the lift as they both stay in the same building. What starts as a cordial hello ends in more than just friendship. But certain questions that will come to one's mind while watching 'Gehraiyaan' are - Is Sahil the third wheel in an already close friendship that exists between Shekhar and Reyna? What connection does Sahil have with the paranormal? As the show progresses, viewers will get to know what lies beneath my calm and serene exterior is a ghost that has come not only to haunt Reyna but to destroy her very existence. I play the deadly spirit, rather the undead that has come to bring doom to Reyna."

We then asked the blue-eyed hottie as to what made him set foot into the web world. He said, "I have had a good run in both films as well as television. One must adapt to changing times. Digital shows are the latest trend among youngsters. Viewers today are spoilt for choice, be it good content or a platform that works for them. Audiences enjoy consuming content on their mobile phones as they are constantly on the move. Entertainment-on-the-go has become the way forward. Video-on-demand streaming services like Viu are making it possible for the busy working class to enjoy content and for an actor like me, it gives me a wider reach and a great platform to connect with my followers."

Playing Sahil has been a complex process for Vatsal. And he revealed just how he perfected playing Sahil for the web series.

"I was pretty excited to play Sahil as I have never portrayed such a character before in the horror genre. However, the king of horror, Vikram Bhatt guided me through the entire process effortlessly. Through the workshops that were conducted and my own process of method acting, I could do justice to the role. Now it is for viewers to enjoy and accept me in the role of Sahil. I thoroughly enjoyed playing the character, it's given me a creative high and will be one of my most cherished roles." said Vatsal.

Surprisingly, while there were reports of how the cast experienced something supernatural while shooting for the show. However, Vatsal has not had any such experience so far.

About his opinion on afterlife and the presence of the supernatural, Vatsal says, "I guess there could be an afterlife but I am not sure, it's difficult to tell. I have never come across a supernatural force or a paranormal experience so far and thus, I am not a firm believer of it. Let me come face to face with the dead and then let's see."

And about the kind of roles that Vatsal would like to attempt in the near future, he revealed, "In the past, I have played roles ranging from a chocolate boy to an anti-hero. I am always open to experimenting and thus took on the role of Sahil in 'Gehraiyaan'. An actor is known for his versatility and I would like to be known for that. Different roles give us actors an avenue to learn more, emote and improve our acting prowess. Currently, there are a couple of projects in the pipeline that the viewers will get to know soon. For now, I'm basking in the glory of a successful inning on the web."

Well, that was enlightening, Vatsal. We wish the actor all the luck for his ventures.
