Mouni Roy recalls traumatic experience of being misbehaved at the age of 21: 'He showed me mouth to mouth…'

The glamour of Bollywood often masks a harsh truth. While many actors have spoken out about the casting couch, Mouni Roy recently revealed a disturbing personal experience from her early career. In a candid chat with Apoorva Mukhija on Spice It Up, the actress shared that she dodged the casting couch but faced shocking misconduct at just 21.

Mouni shares the harrowing experience of misbehave

Addressing inquiries about facing the casting couch or any instances of misconduct in Bollywood, Mouni responded, Casting couch toh nahi hua, but badtameezi hui hai(Never faced casting couch but was misbehaved with). I was 21-22 years old and I had gone to someone’s office where people were there inside the office where narration was being given. Suddenly there was a scene where the girl falls into the swimming pool, she looses consciousness and the hero gets her out and gives her mouth to mouth respiration and she gains conciousness.

Without disclosing the identity of the individual, whether an actor, director, or casting agent, who behaved inappropriately, Mouni stated, The man literally held my face and showed me mouth to mouth respiration. Uss 1 split second main mujhe samajh hi nahi aaya mere saath kya hua (I didn’t understand what happened with me in that split second). I started shaking and I ran down. It really scarred me for a real long time.

Mouni’s upcoming projects

Mouni's acting career commenced with the renowned series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, subsequently achieving widespread recognition through shows such as Kasturi, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, and Naagin. She debuted in Bollywood alongside Akshay Kumar in the 2018 film Gold, followed by roles in Romeo Akbar Walter, Made in China, and garnered industry praise for her portrayal of Junoon in Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva.

Her upcoming project is the romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Directed by David Dhawan, the film features Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, with a theatrical release planned for 2026.
