Mouni Roy addressed criticism and plastic surgery rumors related to her appearance, dismissing the negativity and pointing out how critics often disregard the hard work actors put into their careers. Palak Tiwari, her co-star in "The Bhootnii," supported her by speaking out against the harmful trend of online trolling and the unrealistic beauty standards imposed on women in the industry.
Palak Tiwari discussed the surge in social media negativity during a recent interview with Nayandeep Rakshit. “There’s one thing that sells more than celebrity—it’s celebrity bashing," she said. “There’s an unabashed and relentless culture of hate against public figures right now. Everyone thinks they can do this job, which is fair, but at least be fair in how you judge us."
Palak highlighted the hypocrisy of online trolls, who criticize actors' appearances and also condemn them for undergoing cosmetic procedures. “You focus on our appearance, shame us for our flaws, and when someone chooses to ‘fix’ them due to that pressure, you shame them again for giving in. It’s a vicious, unfulfilling cycle," she said. “They’ll pick on anything—our nose, hair, weight—you name it."
Mouni Roy, her co-star in "The Bhootnii," echoed these sentiments. She dismissed the trolls as "people who haven’t achieved anything in life," noting that their criticism often ignores the years of dedication actors pour into their craft. "They only see the glamour, not the grind," Mouni said.
They don’t understand what it takes to land that first role, especially when you don’t come from a film family. The auditions, the rejections, the long hours—none of it is easy

Mouni, who faced recent trolling for her new bangs—rumored to be covering a failed forehead surgery—handled the speculation with composure. She chose to prioritize her work and the effort required to remain successful in the competitive industry.
Mouni Roy's next project is the horror film "The Bhootnii," where she co-stars with Sanjay Dutt. Directed by Sidhaant Sachdev and produced by Deepak Mukut and Sanjay Dutt, the cast also includes Sunny Singh, Palak Tiwari, and Navneet Malik. The film is set to release on May 1st, coinciding with the release of "Raid 2," featuring Ajay Devgn, Vaani Kapoor, and Riteish Deshmukh.
