Veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar, known for his strong patriotic films, passed away at the age of 87 on April 4, 2025, at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. His demise has deeply saddened the film industry and the nation. Many celebrities and fans have been mourning the loss of the iconic ‘Bharat Kumar’, a title he earned due to his patriotic roles.
Actress Raveena Tandon visited Manoj Kumar's residence and spoke to the media with teary eyes. She revealed a personal connection between her family and the legendary actor. “I know Manoj uncle since many years. Infact, mere papa ko unhone break diya tha film mein. He is like the father to all of us,” she said with respect and emotion.
Raveena paid tribute in a unique and touching way. She brought three things that were very dear to Manoj Kumar. “Aaj mein unki teen favorite cheezein leke aayi unke liye jo mein unko chadhana chahungi, jo meine chadhaya hai. Kal subah bhi aaungi chadhane. Ek toh Mahakal ka rudraksh ki mala, Sai Baba ki vibhuti aur India ka flag. Kyunki mere liye wo Bharat the, Bharat hai aur Bharat rahenge.”

Born as Harikrishnan Giri Goswami in Abbottabad in 1937, Manoj Kumar moved to Delhi during the Partition. He started his film career with Fashion in 1957 but rose to fame with Kanch Ki Gudiya. His contributions as an actor and director, especially with films like Upkar, Shor, and Jai Hind, made him a true legend of Indian cinema.
