What should have been a personal matter has now become a public spectacle, sparking debates across the Telugu-speaking regions. The private lives of the Manchu family are now under the spotlight, with whispers about deep-rooted disputes.

Veteran actor Mohan Babu has three children: Vishnu, Lakshmi, and Manoj. Vishnu and Lakshmi are from his first wife, Vidya Devi, while Manoj is from his marriage to Nirmala Devi, Vidya’s sister, after Vidya’s demise. All three siblings have made a mark in the Telugu film industry as actors and producers.

Manoj, the youngest, married Bhuma Mounika Reddy in March 2023, and they have a baby girl, Devasena. This is a second marriage for both. Vishnu resides in Dubai with his wife, Viranica Reddy, and their four kids, while Lakshmi has moved to Mumbai with her husband Andy Srinivasan and daughter.

The family’s property, estimated at ?600 crore, is said to be at the center of disputes. Mohan Babu’s assets include prime properties in Hyderabad, a farmhouse in Jalpally, and the Sri Vidyanikethan university in Tirupati. These properties have reportedly been distributed, with Vishnu receiving the university and production houses, Lakshmi inheriting the Film Nagar house, and Manoj receiving land holdings on Hyderabad’s outskirts.

The feud deepened after Manoj married Bhuma Mounika against Mohan Babu’s wishes. In an alleged audio clip, Mohan Babu was heard opposing the marriage, saying he would not support Manoj. Vishnu and other family members reportedly skipped Manoj’s wedding and his daughter’s cradle ceremony, adding to the strain.

Favoritism toward Vishnu seems to be another flashpoint. Despite his film Cheaters failing, Vishnu continues to receive financial backing, with a reported ?100 crore invested in his project Kannappa. Meanwhile, Manoj’s film Aham Brahmasmi was shelved due to budget issues, leaving him feeling overlooked.

The Manchu family’s strained relationships have drawn public interest, and many believe the disputes are far from over.
