Mahua Bhojpuri to come up with Mahua Gujarati!

One more Gujarati regional channel to enter small screen...

Seems like the Gujarati Language is capturing the minds of people because after Star One, viewers are going to have not just a Gujarati band in a channel, but a whole new Gujarati channel.

A source from the industry informs, "Mahua which is a regional Bhojpuri channel is gearing up for a new Gujarati Channel which will be named as Mahua, Gujarati."

"All the technical work to set up the channel is done and a few well known Producers are coming up with their shows on the channel. The pre-production work for the channel is going on and will get ready to go on floor within a few months, "adds source.

We tried to contact Kamlesh Kunti Singh, the Programming Head of Mahua, but he remained unavailable for comments.

Seems like the Gujarati audience is the actual TRP boosters for the channel…

Considering that Gujaratis are vast in numbers and residing all over the world and are generally affluent, it would make good business sense to have a dedicated Gujarati TV channel but most Gujaratis are spend-thrift [not to mention miser lol!] will not subscribe to stand alone Gujarati TV channel.
In answer to *rojmal1*, there have been dedicated stand alone Gujarati TV channel in UK but had to close due to lack of subscribers, whereas TV channels like Punjabi, Bangla, Tamil etc are thriving...!
