'Lived in a house as small as Armaan Poddar's BATHROOM': YRKKH's Rohit Purohit RECALLS initial days in Mumbai

Rohit Purohit, currently essaying the character of Armaan Poddar in Star Plus' super hit show 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,' got in an exclusive chat with India Forums and spoke about Armaan's current 'living conditions' in the show.

The actor, speaking about Armaan Poddar's current situations in the show says, ''Kaafi difficult tha initially kyunki jis tarah ki lifestyle Armaan jeeta aaya hai, uske baad ye kaafi difficult tha lekin thankfully Armaan ek aisa character hai jo adjust karna jaanta hai. Kyunki shayad Poddars ka blood nahi hai wo aur Abhira ki help ki wajah se uske liye cheeze aur bhi easy hojati hai kyunki wo jaanta hai ke Abhira ne bhi aisi zindagi nahi jee hai toh dheere dheere uske sath chize aasan ho ne lagti hai aur Armaan ko aisa lagta hai ke agar Abhira itna sacrifice kar sakti hai toh wo kyun nahi kar sakta.''

Ask the actor if he has seen a similar time and if at all his initial days in Mumbai were similar to Armaan's condition and the actor recalls, ''Yes, bilkul aaya hai. Isse bhi jyda kharab aaya hai, ye toh bahut badi jagah hai. Jab main pehli baar Bombay aaya tha toh, maine Mumbai filmo mein dekha tha, badi badi buildings aur ye saari cheeze. So when I came here, I was 19 and main apne uncle ke sath mein aaya tha. Unhone mujhe kaha tha ke waha badi badi buildings hoti hai and this and that. I had come to Mumbai from Jaipur. So I remember when I got down of the cab and saw the place he brought me to, because obviously budget was an issue, I started looking around. Armaan ka toh chalo chawl hai and better jagah hai lekin wo building bhi isse kum nahi thi.''

''Jab main utra toh main soch raha tha ke Mumbai main kya soch kar aaya tha aur hume aisi jagah rehna padega, aur then jab humko room mila, I think jitna is ghar mein hum reh rahe hai, yahan ke bathroom jitna woh room tha. Aur us room mein bhi literally wo itna bada tha ke aadhe ghar mein DJ ka samaan rakha hua tha. Toh mere paas bas itni jagah thi ke wahan do log bas so sake., sirf let sake itna tha. One room mein bhi half room owner ne apne paas rakha tha kyunki usne ekdum 2-3k mein humko wo room de diya tha. Gas nahi thi, bread butter khate thhe. Kyunki main vegetarian hoon toh muje issue hota tha jahan non veg banta hai wahan khane mein, toh is se bhi worse situations mein maine shuruat ki thi, so jis din we started shooting for this sequence, I told someone that all those memories are coming back. I took time to adjust, but I knew I had to, that is life, so yes our track is very similar to that,'' Rohit further adds.

When asked if he ever felt like running away and returning back to Jaipur, he says, ''Nahi, kabhi mere dimag mein nahi aaya tha. Mujhe maalum tha ke dheere dheere hoga. Ye nahi pata tha ke kahan pohchna hai kaha nahi pohchna, but ye tha ke mushkile jo hai unse ladna jaruri hai aur chize aasani se nahi milti mujhe bahut jaldi pata chal gaya tha.''

Rohit recently brought his first home along with wife Sheena Bajaj in Mumbai.
