Lara Gets Her Shiny Stone!

The world of glamour and sports does get to witness another betrothal with this piece of news...

One of the consistently present couples at many recent socials over the past year has been that of former Miss Universe and Bollywood actress Lara Dutta, with Indian tennis star Mahesh Bhupatti. And although the couple, especially Lara, have just as consistently brushed off buzz calling their intimacy a 'just friends' affair, things have finally come out into the open with a formal announcement of the two being engaged.

When?! It all happened a month ago in the US mega metro of New York, where Mahesh was present for the US Open Championship. Over a candle light dinner, the man proposed his lady with a made to order ring - for which the design and the stone had been exclusively selected by Mahesh himself.

More on their past?! Incidentally, New York happens to be the city of Lara's past, which also, happens to be with another sportstar - the Yankees shortstop, Derek Jeter. Meanwhile, Mahesh, who was married to Svetha Jaishankar, has undergone a divorce with his now ex-wife. Of course, Svetha, like many celeb first wives has accused Lara of causing the split. The world acclaimed beauty has defended herself claiming that she only ever met Mahesh a year after the married couple had parted ways. Media suspects Svetha to have been one major reason for the couple to have kept their romantic alliance under wraps for quite sometime in the past.

Nonetheless, the world of glamor and sports does get to witness another betrothal with this piece of news. We wish Lara and Mahesh the very best for a lovely future!
