Kyunki 2: Anupamaa or TMKOC, which show will be the biggest TRP competitor of the much-hyped reboot?

After 25 years, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is coming with a reboot on Indian TV. The show has been a part of our childhood. No other family had us as emotionally invested as the Virani Parivaar with Tulsi – Mihir setting couple goals at every step. The reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is coming on air from July 29, 2025. We have the OG pair, cameos from old actors and some fresh new faces. It seems Kyunki 2 is going to be a finite series. Ekta Kapoor said she had no plans to relaunch the show as she believes that a classic is a classic, and should remain untouched.

However, she felt that the TV genre needed back the good stories – ones that left an impact and were discussed at dinner. Of late, there are constant complaints that quality story-telling is at an all-time low, and family values have been compromised for TRPs. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi aims to bring back that magic. Now, fans are wondering which show will give it stiff competition on the TRP charts.

One of the obvious guesses is Anupamaa. It is having TRPs of 2.1 right now. The makers might bring in some new twist if the ratings dip due to Kyunki 2. Before that, it has developed a loyal audience in the past five years. Fans might take a break from the show but return whenever they find the tracks interesting.

The show that is on top right now is Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. It has got a rating of 2.5 which is quite good. The Bhoot (ghost) track and disappearance of Jethalal (Dilip Joshi) and Babita (Munmun Dutta) brought in more viewers. Despite all its issues, TMKOC has held its own over the years on the TRP charts.
