Despite facing criticism for its dialogues and special effects, the highly anticipated film Adipurush continues to dominate the box office with impressive collections. On Sunday alone, the movie raked in an estimated ₹64 crore across all languages, bringing its total earnings in India to approximately ₹216 crore. Directed by Om Raut, the film features Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh.
According to Sacnilk.com, the Hindi version of Adipurush is estimated to have grossed ₹38.5 crores, contributing significantly to the film's overall success. With a three-day collection of ₹216 crores across all languages, the movie has displayed its box office prowess, especially with ₹64 crores earned on the third day alone.
Adipurush made a grand opening with a worldwide collection of ₹140 crore, further adding around ₹100 crores on its second day, surpassing the ₹200 crore mark globally. The film's popularity extends beyond the Hindi belt, with a strong performance in other languages as well. In response to the backlash received for certain dialogues, T-Series and dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir announced their intention to make changes. The decision came after several lines failed to resonate with the audience.
Apart from the stellar cast, which includes Sunny Singh, Devdatta Nage, Vatsal Sheth, and Sonal Chauhan in pivotal roles, Adipurush is renowned for its dramatic retelling of the Ramayana epic. However, it has faced criticism on social media for its subpar visual effects and controversial dialogues, such as 'marega bete' (your son will die), 'bua ka bagicha hain kya' (is it your aunt's garden?), and 'jalegi tere baap ki' (your father will be burned).
Earlier, renowned actor Arun Govil, known for his portrayal of Lord Ram in Ramayan, referred to Adipurush as a "Hollywood ki cartoon" (a Hollywood cartoon) during an interview with ABP. Although he admitted to not having watched the film, he questioned the necessity of incorporating modern changes into an epic like the Ramayana.
Despite the mixed reception and ongoing debates surrounding Adipurush, the film's impressive box office performance showcases its ability to attract audiences.
